Caring for Your Leather Goods

Care Guides

Fine leather is a living material that responds to its environment. With proper care, a well-made leather bag or accessory will develop a beautiful patina over decades, becoming more characterful with age.

Storage

Always store leather goods stuffed with acid-free tissue paper to maintain shape. Use the dust bags provided by the manufacturer. Never store leather in plastic — it needs to breathe. Keep bags upright, not stacked, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Cleaning

For everyday maintenance, wipe leather with a soft, slightly damp cloth. For deeper cleaning, use a leather-specific cleaner appropriate for the type of leather (smooth, textured, exotic). Never use alcohol, acetone, or household cleaners.

Conditioning

Condition leather every 3-6 months with a quality leather conditioner. Apply sparingly with a soft cloth in circular motions. Let it absorb for a few hours before buffing. Over-conditioning can clog pores and darken the leather.
